The loss of a loved one is one of life’s most difficult moments. At Our Lady of the Gulf, our Bereavement Ministry seeks to offer the comfort of Christ and the support of the Church to families during their time of grief.
This ministry serves families by assisting with funeral planning, offering presence and support at the Funeral Mass, and continuing to walk with the bereaved in the days, weeks, and months that follow. Whether it’s helping to choose readings and music, greeting guests at the liturgy, or simply being there to listen, we are here to accompany you with care and compassion.
Support with Funeral Planning
Compassionate guidance in preparing the Funeral Mass, including Scripture selections, music, and liturgical roles.
Funeral Day Assistance
Volunteers serve as greeters, set-up helpers, and liturgical ministers to ensure everything runs smoothly and prayerfully.
Grief Support and Follow-Up
Ongoing outreach through cards, phone calls, and optional participation in our grief support gatherings.
Annual Remembrance Mass
A special liturgy each November to honor and pray for our beloved dead.
If you feel called to serve those who are mourning—with a kind heart, a quiet presence, and a listening ear—we invite you to consider joining this ministry. Training is provided, and each volunteer may serve in the way they feel most comfortable.
