Your Journey of Discovery and Faith Begins Here.
What is YBCatholic?
YBCatholic is our version of OCIA, which stands for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is the Catholic Church's process for welcoming adults into the Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion. Formerly known as RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), the name was changed in 2021 to reflect a more accurate translation from Latin.
OCIA provides a structured journey for adults to learn about the Catholic faith, experience spiritual growth, and prepare for full communion with the Church. It's designed for three groups of people:
- Adults who are not yet baptized.
- Adults baptized in another Christian tradition who wish to become Catholic.
- Adults baptized Catholic who have not yet received all the sacraments of initiation.

3. Purification & Enlightenment
An intensive period of reflection and spiritual preparation, typically observed during Lent, leading up to the reception of the sacraments.
4. Mystagogy
A period of post-sacramental reflection and continued spiritual growth, where the newly initiated deepen their understanding and live out their faith in the community.
